Synopsis: He is nicknamed "The eye of Istanbul". The photographs that he has taken of his city have gone around the world for the last 50 years, and they make for an unrivalled visual memory. Ara Güler is today 89 years old. His life is behind him but he tells it generously, always in the presence of his assistant and friend, Fatih Aslan. We look his photographs, the great photographer tells their stories, their conceptions, their historical and personal contexts. In this way, from picture to picture, we can travel in black and white and in color into his life, into Istanbul's and Turkey's story.
